I love to play with salt dough. Salt dough is especially used for making Christmas ornaments but can be used to create some other creative stuff. I have made various crafts like ornaments, cake toppers, lamps, photo frames and wall hangings with salt dough. Today I am sharing some of wall hangings I made to decorate my house. What I like about salt dough is it doesn’t require any fancy ingredient; all things are easily available in your kitchen pantry. It’s so cheap and easy to work upon.
For making salt dough, you will need;
- Whole wheat flour – 1 cup
- Salt – ½ cup
- Water – ½ cup
How to make salt dough?
- In a bowl, sieve flower and salt. Mix together.
- Start kneading the dough by adding little water at time. Knead little longer to make firm dough and your salt dough is ready.
Now put on your creative hat and make the stuff you want. Then bake your salt dough creations in oven at 150-200 degree F for about 3-4 hours. Let them cool down.Once they cool down completely, you can color them with acrylic colors.Make sure you keep oven temperature low as mentioned above. Baking on low heat will make your creations hard.You may use all purpose flour instead of whole wheat flour.
Here are my beautiful salt dough wall hangings. I hope you will like them.
